A GI armed with a M3 "Grease gun" looks at the corpse of a German soldier behind a German halftrack (Schutzenpanzerwagen SdKfz 251, Ausfuhrung D) camouflaged with branches. 12th August 1944. It belonged to the 1. SS-Panzer Division Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler. The GI has an M2 Artillery Compass and an M3 combat dagger. In the foreground are two dead German soldiers. In the background is a Kettenkrad NSU HK-101 (Kleines Kettenkraftrad HK 101, Sd. Kfz. 2). German vehicles were destroyed by direct fire from the 120th Infantry Regiment of the 30th U.S. Infantry Division near the train station of Mortain, Normandy, France.
