INDONESIA DELIGHTFUL images of beautiful butterflies balancing on top of a skink lizard have been captured.
Images show the gentle lizard standing on a branch while a pair of butterflies delicately poses on its head and tail, in Balangan City, Indonesia.
The Red-eyed crocodile skink originates from Southeast Asia, inhabiting leaf-littered forest floors and mossy tree crevices.
They are most active during dawn and dusk when they feed on a variety of insects.
The name refers to their spiny appearance, much like a miniature crocodile.
These images were captured by a wildlife photographer, Ridho Arifuddin (39), from Balangan Regency, Indonesia.
“To me, this picture depicts the uncanny bond that animals across different species can share,” he told mediadrumworld.com.
“After waiting for such an interaction, I felt really lucky to have been able to capture these very rare moments.
“I used a Canon 550D camera and a Sigma 180 mm lens to snap these pictures.
“Although this is a wild crocodile skink, these lizards can also be kept as pets, however, they would be quite an elusive one, due to their natural crepuscular lifestyle and camouflage against earthy substrates.
“They are capable of swimming and climbing, however, and can be keen hunters of live food.”
