Ibn Sina, also known by his latinized name, Avicenna (980-1037), was a Persian Muslim philosopher, physician and scientist. He authored books on many subjects, the most famous being "The Book of Healing and The Canon of Medicine." This book was used for centuries to teach medicine in European universities.
