Polish Soldiers, part of the European Force (EUFOR), patrol a village near Iriba, in eastern Chad on March 11, 2009 four days before the end of the European Union's UN-approved mandate in the Central African Republic and Chad (MINURCAT) expires on March 15. Poland will keep its UN-flagged peacekeeping mission in Chad until November, the government said early March, going back on an earlier decision for a pullot due to spending cuts. Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) say some 260,000 Darfuri refugees who fled the conflict in western Sudan are currently being sheltered in eastern Chad. An estimated 190,000 people have been displaced inside Chad raising tensions between the two countries. AFP PHOTO / PHILIPPE HUGUEN
