A NASA picture taken by US crew commander Eugene A. Cernan, on December 13, 1972 shows astronaut and geologist Harrison H. Schmitt seated in the Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV) at Station 9 (Van Serg Crater) during the third Apollo 17 extravehicular activity (EVA) at the Taurus-Littrow landing site. The Apollo 17 lunar mission was the sixth and final lunar landing mission of the Apollo program. Lunar Module Pilot Harrison Schmitt was the first scientist-astronaut to land on Moon.
