Albert D. Lasker and his wife Mary arrive in New York, Oct. 12, 1949, aboard the Queen Mary after a month's trip to Europe. He is the head of the Lasker Foundation for Medical Research. The purpose of Mr. Lasker's trip, he said, was "to get information on the health plans in England and France." In talking to newsmen, he said, " I am not in favor of the British plan for the United States, which is socialized medicine, but what President Truman proposes is something utterly different."
