The MS Stockholm arrives to New York, July 27, 1956. The Stockholm, a Swedish liner, returned to New York with 533 survivors from the Italian ship Andrea Doria, which it had collided with in heavy fog off Nantucket. Forty-six passengers of Andrea Doria were killed in the collision area of their ship. Five crew members of Stockholm whose cabins were located in the bow area and were in the impact area at the time of the collision also died. (Arthur Brower/The New York Times)
