The silver-gilt cutlery has the Little General's initial 'N' in a laurel wreath, his Imperial arms and bee motif. It is possible that the pieces were taken from his carriage following his devastating defeat at Waterloo in 1815. The 'high quality' cutlery was made by the silversmith Martin-Guillaume Biennais in Paris in around 1810. It went under the hammer with auctioneers Woolley & Wallis, of Salisbury, Wilts.
