Jason Ward recently got a peregrine falcon tattooed on his shoulder, in Atlanta, Georgia. It was his "spark bird," the first to spark his interest in birding. Ward is host of a popular web series on Topic called "Birds of North America" in which he goes bird watching in various cities around the US with various people. Internet controversy erupted when Rolling Stone aired a show called "Birding with Charles," which seemed to mock Ward's show and undermine its objective to make birding interesting and accessible as well as dismantling stereotypes around people of color in STEM.
