Eissa Ali and his family return home to Raqqa, Syria, which was the capital of Islamic State territory for more than three years, on June 13, 2018. The two top floors of the house are missing. Most of the neighborhood is gone, erased by airstrikes. The family decided to patch holes in the walls, clean out the rubble and move in anyway. (Ivor Prickett/The New York Times)
