In a handout photo, a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket carrying NASA's Osiris-Rex spacecraft launching from Cape Canaveral, Fla., in 2016. In August 2018 it will approach the asteroid Bennu, which speeds around the sun. It will survey Bennu for about a year. Then in 2020, it will perform a touch-and-go maneuver with a robotic arm to collect a sample from its surface. Then the spacecraft will leave Bennu in March 2021, arriving at Earth in 2023.
