The remains of Langley Collyer, 61-year-old recluse, are removed in a wooden box from the ancient mansion on upper Fifth Avenue in New York, April 8, 1947 by a police squad. Earlier in the day the rat-gnawed body of Langley was found in the same room of the house where his blind brother, Homer, was found dead on March 21. Police believed that Langley was the victim of one of his own booby traps in the junk-cluttered building. (AP Photo/Jacob Harris)
