Senator George McGill of Kansas (right) proudly shows Senator Burton Wheeler of Montana the silver-headed Ebony Cane on June 10, 1934 sent to him by Max A. Reynolds of Wichita, Kan., grandson of N. O. Tate of Wichita. The cane was presented to Tate in 1896 by Silver Club of Nebraska, Iowa and Illinois in appreciation for his activities in the unsuccessful presidential campaign of William Jennings Bryan. It was given to the Senator, with the former owner's approval, for his efforts to obtain more silver money during the present session of Congress. (AP Photo)
