AP Historical Hard Drive 2009
This is a general view of the Majestic apartments at 115 Central Park West, in New York, March 24, 1951 where gambler Frank Costello has an apartment on the 18th floor. Police said March 24 that three armed men forced elevator operators to take them to the Costello apartment early the morning of the 24th, but when they received no response to the Bell, left the building. Costello last week told the senate Crime Investigating committee he had some $40,000 in a safe at the apartment. Police said they were told by the superintendent that the valuables had been removed.
