U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower and Mrs. Mamie Eisenhower presented these studies during a brief ceremony in the White House Diplomatic Reception Room, April 3, 1959 in Washington. The occasion was the presentation to them of the nearby blooming Japanese cherry tree by officials of the Washington Cherry Blossom Festival. Twelve of these trees will be sent to the Eisenhowers? Gettysburg, Pa., farm. It is a painting of Mrs. Abraham Van who served as official White House hostess during part of the presidency of her father-in-law, Martin Van Buren. (AP Photo)
