Two of the Hiroshima Girls Suzue Oshima (left) and Misako Kannabe, work on a comforter they made for Mr. and Mrs. George Hastings of Darien, Conn. The Hastings wer the young women's hosts for the month of July 22, 1955. The 25 Hiroshima Girls are paired as guests, moving to different homes of friends each month. They are in this country for plastic surgery for the scars left by the atomic bombing of Hiroshima August 6, 1945. They are treated in a New York hospital for at a time. Each may have to go through five or six operations. Suzue is 23, Misako, 24. They were high school girls when the first atom bomb devasted their home town and their lives. (AP Photo/Raw)
