AP Historical Hard Drive 2008
An elderly visitor, sits studying a wood and metal screen, one of the biggest attention getters at the first exhibition on Oct. 10, 1956 in New York's newly opened Museum of Contemporary Arts. The screen is made of wood and metal pieces in many shapes. It is by John Risley of Middletown, Conn. The Museum is in a reconverted brownstone house a few doors from the Museum of Modern Art on West 52rd Street. In addition to exhibits at the museum, smaller ones are planned to send to other cities.
