AP Historical Hard Drive 2008
A class at Russell High school on Nov. 4, 1950 in Atlanta, Georgia, is shown listening to a radio broadcast coming from the Atlanta School system???s own radio broadcasting station. One teacher can now teach all 104,000 students of the public schools around the city all one time if she wants to , because the radio station has just stepped up its power to 5,000 watts which enables it to reach its own Fulton County as well as adjoining counties. The station, which first went on the air in 1948, was made possible through grants from the Rich Foundation and has proven a valuable adjunct in classroom work, according to Mrs, Ira Jarrell, city school superintendent.
