This picture of Otto Sanhuber, April 16, 1930, was taken shortly after he admitted to authorities that he was the mystery slayer of Fred Oesterreich, wealthy Los Angeles manufacturer, whose death had remained a puzzle for eight years. Sanhuber told a tale of a life in a secret garrett of the Oesterreich home, where he was kept by the victim's wife, Dolly. During a quarrel between husband and wife, Sanhuber says he slipped out of the attic, shot Fred Oesterreich and locked the wife in the closet, returning to his hiding place. (AP Photo)
