AP Historical Hard Drive 2006
Taken from a fleet street roof-top, these pictures are the first to be released by the censor, showing a flying bomb actually crashing in central London. The distinctive sky-line of London's law-courts clearly locates the scene of the incident. Falling in a side road off famous Drury Lane, this bomb blasted among other buildings, the office of the Daily Herald. Photo shows: Its engine cut out; the bomb plummets down behind the tower of the law courts. 1944 photo. (AP Photo)
