This photo composition shows, right, the altered photograph which was distributed in 1940 by the Spanish national news agency, EFE, showing Hitler and Franco facing each other on the station platform with a train in the background during a meeting in Hendaye, France, Oct. 23, 1940. This picture had been manipulated by the regime's censors, as on the left the original negative shows an empty station platform and demonstrates that the dictators were superimposed. Efe said that in a recent process of digitalizing its archives it found that two well-known pictures of the meeting had been altered. The Hendaye meeting was to discuss each other's military needs and Spain's possible entry into the World War II on Hitler's side. No agreement was reached. The Spanish regime used the meeting to try to portray Franco's importance internationally. (AP Photo/ EFE) ** LATIN AMERICA OUT CARIBBEAN OUT SPAIN OUT **
