The Italian force at Walchefit Pass, 80 miles north of Gondar surrendered under arms and received the honours of war on Sept. 28, 1941. Headed by the Italian flag the Italian force came down from their positions and were given the honours of war by Brigadier W.A.L. James, who took the salute the guard of honour was composed of men from the Kings African Rifles. a mile past the saluting base the Italian force surrendered their arms.
