Out troops attacked the Island off Aradian on the River Shatt al Arab, at the head of the Persian Gulf as their first objective, on this Island is the largest oil refinery in the world and it is the most important objective we have in Iran. It belongs to the Anglo-Iranian on company and is mostly staffed by British personnel, who were present when the attack came. Indian troops were landed from assault ships on the quayside and they attacked the Iranian strong points in the refinery. These pictures which were taken the day after the attack show that the refinery was not only undamaged, but was actually functioning again within 24 hours.
