Cranes and Lorries are now hard at work salvaging the most valuable items in the whole of London's air raid debris - the iron and steel girders and scrap, July 18, 1941. Thousands of tons of metal are being put back into industry through the Iron and steel control which takes over the scrap after demolition men have removed in from the buildings. The considerable amount of raid debris in the neighbourhood of St. Paul's Cathedral is being rapidly cleaned and already many heavy lorry loads have been taken to the smelters. A crane being used to left up heavy Iron girders from a wrecked building near St. Paul's cathedral in London on July 18, 1941, seen in right background. (AP Photo)
