US deploys more troops to Poland and Eastern Europe to defend NATO borders amid growing aggression from Russia. This is considered preparations against Putin's next land grab, The Suwalki Gap: How a tiny 60-mile stretch of land in central Europe could spark a war with Russia. The United States is sending an increasing number of soldiers to supplement their NATO allies in Central and Eastern Europe in response potential Russian military expansion in light of the Russian incursion in Eastern Ukraine and the acquisition of Crimea. US army soldiers from the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division are training with their Polish Army counterparts in Camp Karliki, in Zagan, Poland and will deploy for nine-months in support of Atlantic Resolve, the NATO plan increase their military presence in Poland, Lithuania, Lativa and Estonia and across Europe. The brigade, based in Fort Carson, Colorado, deployed 4,000 solders and 87 Abrams Tanks. All vehicles and equipment, totaling more than 2,700 pieces, were shipped to Germany, then sent to Poland via rail. The 3rd Armored Brigade has a storied history stretching back to the First World War.
