Story from Jam Press (Alligator Rescued Drain) Pictured: Rescuers rescued a 10-foot-6-inch-long alligator that got stuck in a drain. Giant, 10ft 6ins long alligator stuck in storm drain rescued An alligator has been rescued after becoming stuck inside a storm drain. The 10ft 6ins long predator was spotted by a passerby who alerted officials. Its jaw could be seen protruding from the drain, as it rested its chin on the concrete. The rest of its face was unable to fit through the small gap. After receiving a report about the trapped gator, the fire department rushed to the scene. They were able to use a winch on their truck to lift the drain cover, however once removed, the reptile had hidden inside. Using a firm piece of rope and a white rod, the rescue team were able to pull the alligator out of the drain, in Cape Coral, northwest of Miami, Florida, US. The alligator was successfully lifted onto the back of the truck. The rescue team managed to clamp its jaw shut as they hoisted it to safety. A Cape Coral Fire Department spokesperson said: “A passerby noticed an alligator stuck in a storm drain. “Engine Seven helped a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission trapper rescue the alligator who turned out to be 10ft 6ins. “They used the winch on the brush truck to lift the lid off the culvert and then assisted the tracker with removing the gator from the drain and getting him on the truck. “Because of his size, he will be taken to a gator farm to live out his life and possibly be part of a breeding program. “As a firefighter, you are never going to know what you are going to encounter but we are honoured to help our Cape Coral community in any way we can.” Locals praised the firefighters, as reported by NeedToKnow. Sharon said: “Glad you were able to help.” Rosanne added: “Yay, he’s free.” Nancy said “Crazy. “Bet they didn't plan on that. “Amazing job.” Another said: “Great job. “That’s a big old dinosaur.” Brittani added: “Aw little baby. “Thanks for helping him.” ENDS
