Around 3.000 doctors and nurses walk through central Warsaw 10 May 2006 adding their voices to nation-wide protests in new EU member state Poland to demand pay hikes and more public spending on health services. The monthly wages of health sector workers in Poland, including highly trained medical doctors, are often in the region of around 400 euros (500 dollars). Some 5,000 Polish doctors -- or more than five percent of the profession -- have already left Poland for better paid jobs in Britain, Denmark and Sweden, according to Radziwill, head of Poland's national chamber of medical doctors.
