John Abraham Godson, Poland's first-ever black member of parliament, sits in the gallery of the country's lower house of parliament, on December 14 in Warsaw, the day he was sworn in to the office. Nigerian-born Godson, 40, is a Protestant pastor and English teacher who moved to Poland in 1993, became a citizen in 2000, and in 2005 was elected as a councillor in the country's second city, Lodz.
