Afghanistan, Nimroz, Zaranj, 04 August 2017 At the Mowla Ali Hotel on the outskirts of Zaranj, men of all ages, most of whom have either been deported or returned from Iran voluntarily the same day, pass time in a communal space, hot and reeking of body odour, before their buses depart for their respective destinations across the country from a nearby bus station. Conversely, Afghans also arrive day and night from across the country on dozens of buses each day before the next leg of their journey as undocumented migrants, on the back of the pick-up trucks of people smugglers, to the border with Pakistan, where they'll be collected by another smuggler for the next leg, to Iran. The journey from Zarang to the Pakistani border takes approximately 6 hours. The majority is through harsh desert with no roads. Two smugglers i spoke to said they paid three bribes to pass checkpoints along the way: one to the Afghan national Police - 500 Afghani (approx. USD7.00), one to the Taliban - also 500 Afghani and another to the Afghan Border Police - 2,000 Afghani (approx. USD28.00). A l'inverse, des Afghans arrivent chaque jour et chaque nuit de tout le pays avant de poursuivre leur voyage pour la fronticre pakistanaise puis vers l'Iran r l'arricre de pick-ups des passeurs. Le voyage pour la fronticre dure approximativement 6 heures, sur des pistes desertiques sans routes.
