Magic lantern slide circa 1880.Victorian/Edwardian.Social History. Slide set: The River Thames: from its head springs to the sea, lecture. Eton College, which is the greatest ,public,school.englandpublic school in England, and also the most celebrated. It is a,river,side red brick building, in a good position by the river side, and has some extensive playing fields for the use of the boys. On the south of the College is the Chapel ; a beautiful building in the perpendicular style. We can just see the top of it on the left of the picture. Eton is com?? paratively a small place, consisting mainly of one long street, which is connected with Windsor by a stone bridge of three arches.
