The lower chromosphere of the Sun seen at the Calcium K wavelength of 393.3nm in the visual spectrum. A lighter active region glows to the left in this image. The first identified sunspot of solar cycle 24 is centered to the right and below the large prominence on the limb. Equipment data: Coronado SolarMax 90 Calcium K telescope at 880mm focal length. Lumenera SKYnyx 2-2 video camera. Combination of 22 individual frames combined into one.
