Title page from "De humani corporis fabrica," (On the Fabric of the Human Body), by the Belgian scientist Andreas Vesalius (December 31, 1514 - October 15, 1564). First published in 1543, "De humani" was one of the first scientific anatomy books. The illustrations are believed to have been executed by Titian's pupil Jan Stephen van Calcar, or others in Titian's studio.
