A farmer tills the soil before planting 2 acres of switchgrass, a biomass fuel that will be cut and baled like regular hay, then processed in a pellet mill to eventually be burned in a pellet stove for heat. A 2.4 kW wind turbine is used to generate electricity from the wind. Wind turbines are an environmentally friendly source of energy, as they release no toxic waste products and do not rely on a limited resource for fuel. Photo taken in New Hampshire.
