Debra Messing (therealdebramessing / 29.12.2019): Ok. I am beside myself. Today we went to @mandalao_elephants, Laos first and only non-riding elephant experience/sanctuary. We spent the day with Koon, a 55 year old female elephant who had worked hard her whole life entertaining people. Thankfully, she has been rescued and is living free for the rest of her days in the beautiful and lush jungle. I am going to innudate you with pictures from our day, which was EPIC. So, if youre not into elephants, dont check in for a couple of days! We first met Koon and feed her a basket of bananas. We then head onto a trek through the jungle, walking by her side, doing whatever she wanted. Stop to scratch herself against a rock, knock down a bamboo tree for its yummy leaves, walk through the tranquil stream, have lunch of banana tree bark with friends.. it was sublime. Im so grateful that MandaLao is a model of ethical treatment of elephants. They have 10 elephants and are getting 4 more next month. They were actually able to reunite a mama and her baby after 9 years apart! The video of their reunion made me cry. These magnificent gentle giants, so full of grace, emotional and social, are always a target of hunters and poachers. Conservation is mandatory and urgent. We are responsible for their survival. I hope youll follow @mandaLao, @sheldricktrust (whom we visited in Kenya 2 years ago) along with @r.e.s.c.u.e. They are all doing important work.Supplied by Instagram.com/face to face
