The Waverley is pictured navigating the waters around Sheerness in Kent and on the Thames near Gravesend in Kent. During routine maintenance a serious fault was found with the boiler, and required a complete replacement. An appeal was launched to save the vessel, and the target of L2.3 million has now been reached and a replacement boiler has been ordered. It is hoped the popular historic vessel will once again return to service in the new decade, cruising around the rivers and coast of the UK in 2020.
