For 18 months between 2014 and 2016, he was the star witness in a high-profile investigation into allegations of sexual abuse and murder, involving MPs, generals and senior figures in the intelligence services. Those falsely accused had their properties raided, includiing former MP Harvey Proctor, who lost both his home and his job. At the time, Beech was the governor of two schools in Gloucestershire where he lived and the former NHS paediatric nurse, also worked as a hospital inspector with the Care Quality Commission. He was protected by police who referred to him under the pseudonym "Nick", to hide his identity. He fabricated claims that he had been the victim of sexual abuse along with others carried out by a "VIP ring" in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and that he had witnessed three child murders by members of the group.
