teamLab will bring its interactive digital art to Oita Prefecture with the exhibition 'teamLab: Digitized Usa Shrine'. Established in the year 725, Usa Shrine is the most important of the 40,000 Hachiman shrines throughout Japan. 'teamLab: Digitized Usa Shrine' will transform this historical site and its surrounding forest into an immersive digital art space running from October 26 to November 7, 2018. Usa Shrine stands in the northern part of Oita Prefecture, on the Kunishin Peninsula at the foot of the mountain range. Out of the 40,000-odd shrines dedicated to the Hachiman Gods, this is the main shrine. The grounds have been designated a National Historic Site, and the main shrine itself a National Treasure. This exhibition is a part of teamLab???s art project Digitized City. The concept behind the project is that non-material digital technology can turn a city into art without physically altering it. In teamLab: Digitized Usa Shrine exhibition, Floating, Resonating Spheres and Resonating Trees are on display. The forest surrounding the grounds and the path leading to the shrine are transformed into an interactive digital art space that changes due to the presence of people. This in turn, enhances the presence of humans, and transforms the relationship between people in the same space with digital art.
