This May 12, 2011, photo released by NASA, and taken from the International Space Station, shows the Mississippi River spilling over its banks in Arkansas and Tennessee as the International Space Station passed overhead. This astronaut photograph shows muddy water sitting on floodplains around Tomato, Arkansas. Flood control work along the Mississippi River and its tributaries has likely made floods worse in Mississippi and Louisiana, according to a study reported in journal Nature, published Wednesday, April 4, 2018. Some other scientists are not convinced. (NASA via AP)
