INCREDIBLE FOOTAGE showing the devastation left in the aftermath of the strongest earthquake to ever hit the United States has resurfaced this week, on the anniversary of the day the deadly quake struck the sparsely populated state of Alaska. Footage taken in the Alaskan city of Anchorage on May 27, 1964 shows a city in ruins following a record earthquake measuring 9.2 on the Richter scale. Clips show upturned houses and destroyed streets, as well as some of the devastating damage done to the docks and ports in the predominantly fishing state. Further shots from the video, taken as part of a 1964 newsreel documenting the event, show the uneven roads left behind by the tremors from the earthquake, while in another a car can be seen trapped underneath the debris from a nearby building / mediadrumworld.com
