Designer Helen Bromovsky fell in love with a Weekhayes House, a crumbling nine-bedroom house in Somerset, because its symmetry, faded rose-coloured stucco and big shuttered windows reminded her of a Tuscan villa. She and her late husband, Francis, wanted to bring their three daughters up in the country surrounded by horses so they set about restoring the house and creating a family home. The house reflects the couple's passion for travel, a love of Turkey and the East and the merging of their style and taste. Helen prefers warm, deep colours and sleek, contemporary lines whereas Francis had a love of anything exotic and ornamental and loved to counterpoint an antique against a pure Perspex cube. The result is a colourful, harmonious fusion between old and new and East and West.
