Kinshasa, Congo - Stanley???s leg is being mended in the foundry of the Chanic metal company. The statue was not included in the refurbishment of the collection of the Institut des Muse??es Nationaux du Congo. Sir Henry Morton Stanley was a Welsh-American journalist and explorer who was famous for his exploration of central Africa and his search for missionary and explorer David Livingstone. Stanley is also known for his search for the source of the Nile, his work in and development of the Congo Basin region in association with King Leopold II of Belgium. He was also known for mapping the central African Lakes and navigating the Congo River
