The new biomass heating plant composed of two wood-fuel boilers provides heating to the western district of Bellevue in Nantes and was inaugurated on 2013/05/14 : combustion flame in a boiler. This heat distribution installation is 20 km long and covers 13,000 dwellings aswell as numerous public facilities. The fuel comes from the forestry located close to the plant and from recycled wood waste. The aim of the city by 2017 is to heat half of the houses units using a 100 km long biomasss network. This would enable to reduce greenhouse effect emissions aswell as the inhabitants' heating costs. Developing heating networks is a priority of the local weather plan ruled by Nantes Metropole.
