From today visitors to the Natural History Museum, via the will be greeted by three giant crocheted lions - three metres high, nine metres long. They are the largest crochet sculptures made by one person anywhere in the world and forms the Lionheart Project created by artist Shauna Richardson. Shauna used 58 kilometres - 36 miles of Swaledale wool from 150 sheep and spent two years crocheting her lions, inspired by Richard the Lionheart's coat-of-arms, featuring three lions. Shauna has dubbed her technique crochetdermy and says, 'This has been a truly exciting opportunity to think big and create something spectacular that celebrates the UK's history and heritage'.
