Hundreds of thousands of Polish catholics attend a ceremony in Pilsudski Square for the beatification of Jerzy Popieluszko, a Roman Catholic Priest and opposition activist murdered in 1984 by Poland's secret police. Archbishop Angelo Amato, the Vatican's prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, represented Pope Benedict XVI at the beatification mass also attended by Jerzy Buzek, Head of the European Parliament, Lech Walesa, Polish Nobel Award winner and Jaroslaw Kaczynski, former Polish Prime Minister and brother of the late Polish President.
