A photographer has captured the moment when dozens of fish jump the height of the widest waterful in Europe to reach their place of spawning upstream. Tamara Patrejeva travelled from his home in Riga to visit the annual spectacle at the Ventas Rumba waterfall in Kuld?ga, which sees the Vimba fish seemingly fly through the air every spring. For over 300 years, residents of the city in northwest Latvia have taken advantage of this rare behaviour by setting up baskets above the waterfall to catch the fish. Although being just over two metres at its highest point, the waterfall boasts a width of 275 metres, making it the widest in Europe. Please byline: Tamara Patrejeva/Solent News & Photo Agency ?
