Light and airy kitchen diner with mantel mirror and retro style pink smeg fridge Ten years ago artist Jo Oakley swapped her former marital home in South East London for a converted stable block nearby, where she lives and works - she paints in a small studio in the garden and her printing press is in the house. ?She describes how her fascination for collecting began: "I went to my first jumble sale when I was about twelve years old and my eyes always landed on ceramics. ?Some of the pieces I found then I still have now...their forms, patterns and colours continue to fascinate me. I have collected ever since so my home is an eclectic mix not governed by fashionable fads but more a natural response to what pleases my eye. ?Many of my things I've found in the street or rescued from skips, and when I look around my home I imagine the stories these items could tell about their past life.?*** TEXT AVAILABLE ***
