Illustration of a right side laparotomy-thoracotomy. This operation involves the partial removal of the oesophagus, carrying out a thoracic lymph node excision and reconstruction of the continuity between the remaining oesophagus and gastroplasty (transformation of part of the stomach to replace the oesophagus). This operation is practised in the case of cancers in the lower and upper third of the oesophagus.
