Camargue chairs in weathered oak by Oka around an old oak kitchen table. The armchairs at either end have been reupholstered in cotton Chelsea Check by Lewis and Wood. The kitchen cupboards and walls are painted in Dulux 20YY 66/066 Carlton Towers is the Yorkshire family home of Gerald and Emma Fitzalan Howard and their three children, Arthur, Grace and Florence. Whilst early parts of the house date from the 17th century later additions were built during the 19th century. Although it is very much a family home, the house also has to earn its keep and it is a popular venue for weddings and corporate events whilst the park-like grounds are the setting for seasonal antique and game fairs. Emma recently undertook the task of renovating most of the bedrooms, those in the family wing as well those used by guests. Wishing to give the historic interiors a more contemporary look whilst retaining a sense of traditional English style, she chose wallpapers and fabrics mainly from Lewis & Wood mixed in with designs from other English companies. Furniture is mostly antique though Emma has sourced timeless, practical items such as the dining chairs in the kitchen from OKA and lamps, mirrors and new bedroom furniture from various suppliers.
