Spiral Galaxy NGC 4565. This galaxy is seen exactly edge-on from Earth, so its spiral structure cannot be seen. The thin arms are seen along their plane, appearing as a dark, dusty line where they pass in front of the bright nucleus. The central bulge of the nucleus contains older, redder stars than the arms. It is thought that our Milky Way galaxy is similar in structure to NGC 4565. The galaxy lies around 31 million light years away in the constellation Coma Berenices.
