Illustration of the various types of anesthetics. -Local anesthetic by injecting an anesthetic product or by applying a gel which anesthetises a localised area. -Locoregional anesthetic : peripheral anesthetics by injecting the anesthetic into the nerve which anesthetises the relevant limb. Spinal anesthetic, by injecting the anesthetic into the spinal column, anesthetising the part of the body that is below the injection. Epidural, by injecting the anesthetic between two vertebrae, anesthetising the pelvis. -General anesthetic, by injecting medicine, or inhaling gas, temporarily suspending consciousness thereby removing the feeling of pain.
